A Few of Our Projects
Systems Documentation and Training
A multi-million dollar retail company was acquired by a competitor, resulting in the competitor’s need to understand and absorb all business processes.
Created documentation, user manuals and process maps for all ongoing inventory management procedures. Conducted multiple training sessions to all levels of the organization to educate and transfer responsibilities. Only team member invited to the new HQ to conduct multi-day info-sessions on all processes involved with inventory and logistics. Easy and seamless transition resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars in continued customer service levels and product management.
Product Distribution Transition
A large multi-chain product retailer needed to change to a new distribution facility. They faced high volume shipping and many customized processes. The highest priority was fulfillment without service interruption.
Trained a single product case pick only staff about loose and hundreds of product types. Worked with IT staff to train on current processes and integration into the facility’s processes. Worked with logistics and management to approve and implement new and modified procedures. Transferred and/ or liquidated assets from the original DC. Created documentation of all steps and performed demand to delivery testing. Optimized shipping and demand schedules. The results: a project that was under budget, ready for live 2 weeks early and little to no interruption in customer service levels.
Localized Custom Mix: Right Product in the Right Place
A multi-chain international retailer needed to develop and enhance processes around determining custom assortments for over 1,000 stores. The methods needed to manage catalog, seasonal and trend goods. Several processes were created and the company had powerful tools to put the right product in the right place.
Catalog goods experienced a 15% reduction in overstocked goods, a 10% improvement in ROI and turn and an estimated 6% sales increase. All while maintaining the proper look in the store and staying within open to buy parameters. Seasonal builds experienced a 20% increase in sell-through with a 5% increase in instock percentage. There was also a 10% reduction in “stranded” goods requiring return or markdown at the end of the season. Plan-o-gram goods had a powerful tool to assess and mange assortment levels. Initial changes implemented demonstrated positive results in fill, turn and the overall
look and feel of the stores.
Credit Card Portfolio Review
A top international bank needed to develop analysis to determine performance of card portfolios. The existing reporting was condensed from a 5 day full time process to a streamlined tool that took under one full day to complete. The new portfolios now have standardized reporting that can be presented to executives side by side with like portfolios and they have powerful analysis tools that were previously non-existent. All portfolios in the project have audit compliant documentation and process mapping to allow for an easy transition to any team member as changes in the organization occur.
Strategy recommendations for the new portfolios included elimination of some segments and tightening of credit lines for others resulting in increased NPV of several points in the initial 6 months. The company now has an automated way to review and analyze the portfolios and they were able to incorporate the work into the downsized workforce.
Environmental Sustainability:A Company Wide Initiative
A Fortune 100 retailer decided to address the concept of Environmental Sustainability, going beyond just carbon footprint. Work was done to define the path, validate the metrics and create tools to measure and analyze usage and emissions. The retailer now has a roadmap for improving its ongoing impact on the environment. Teams have unprecedented visibility to site level usage and emissions impact using an interactive dashboard that is easily distributed to all levels. They are ready for the next step of incorporating the reporting into the business. The retailer is now in a position to move forward with plans to make a change to their environmental impact. They have the technology and process knowledge to guide them to a more sustainable tomorrow.
